Initial Thoughts
I have bareMinerals’ Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream in 02 Vanilla, although as summer rolls in, I will definitely be purchasing the Buttercream shade.
This is fool-proof to apply; rub it in with your fingers and blend out with a damp sponge. Give it time to dry as it’s a wet formula, then set with a powder to keep it lasting all day. The light-reflecting formula lets your natural skin show through, while still neutralising redness, darkness and dullness.
Formulation
I have eczema and sensitive skin. For me, Complexion Rescue didn’t cause any problems. No spots, no dryness, no clogged pores. I love that it has SPF30 too, so it’s a great every day option and ideal as an easy do-all product when travelling.
This is not hydrating however. Sure, it doesn’t dry me out at all, but you need to moisturise morning and evening too. This is not a skincare replacement (nor is any make-up)!
Coverage
This product has changed my life! It looks so natural on the skin. This is because instead of covering blemishes and redness with pigment, this whipped gel-cream hybrid reflects yellow, green and peach light to give you a luminous finish. I’m always amazed when my super pale freckles still show through, but all of my redness and eye darkness is neutralised! This is definitely sheer coverage, but that doesn’t mean any discolouration shows through.
Finish
Complexion Rescue leaves a really natural satin finish- it looks like skin! I don’t find it flakes on my dry areas, but it will need setting with a powder as it’s fairly dewy at first, although does dry down. I actually find that the finish becomes more natural through-out the day, instead of separating and wearing off. It seems to melt into your skin and keep it glowing all day long, and into the evening!
